Packing Location: Austin, TX Since Bryan takes pictures like a scientist, all stages of a trip merit careful documentation. While it may not be very interesting to you, our faithful viewers, bear with us for the packing pictures. (The highlight reel is over.) - IMG 2288
Location: Maryland Okay, two. But this one has Bryan in the foreground, in case you forgot what he looked like. - IMG 2341
Street scene Location: Chicago Not exactly Main Street, but not a bed reference shot of downtown Chicago. - IMG 2290
Chesapeake Bay Tunnel Location: Maryland Since we paid $10 to use this bridge/tunnel feature, we had to get our money's worth in pictures. - IMG 2225
The Smokies themselves. Location: Smoky Mountains Natl Park The obligatory look-oh-my-god-mountains shot. - IMG 2233
Scenic outlook Location: Smoky Mountains Natl Park sans intrepid adventurers. - IMG 2342

Location: Chicago Late night train stop, on their way to Gino's for a dinner of Chicago's self-proclaimed best stuffed pizza. - IMG 2172
Wet Location: Maumelle Park, AK When the woke up Sunday morning to the pitter-patter of rain on their tent, Bryan and Leslie received an object lesson on why you don't let the rain fly touch the tent or the ground cloth extend past the tent edges. But they were both remarkably good natured about the whole thing, and everything dried by Sunday night. - IMG 2176
Location: Hot Springs, AK To the right of Bryan is a steam cabinet, where they lock you in and cook you. - IMG 2271
Main Campus Location: Duke University An obligatory reference shot of the quad at Duke (a nice school, I'm sure, but why are all the kids so dressed up?). - IMG 2173

A.I. Location: Chicago Artificial Intelligence AND Art Institute (the latter being more relevant for this picture). - IMG 2222
Feed the addiction Location: Nashville, Tennessee Mmm, email. Internet. - IMG 2347
Who IS Richard M. Daley? Location: Chicago Haunted by this man (he welcomed them on the highway, provided a complementary newpaper in the morning, and greeted them at the top of the Sears Tower), Bryan and Leslie--who had the vague impression he had been the mayor in the 70s--finally asked a friendly Sears Tower employee: WHO IS THIS MAN, WHO DOGS OUR STEPS? As it turns out, he had been the mayor decades ago, and now his son, also Richard Daley, leads the city. - IMG 2335
State Number Something + 1 Location: Indiana Notice how the sky is silver. It's Always Like That (thank you, industry, for your sweet, sweet pollutants). - IMG 2334

Defacing public property Location: Smoky Mountains Natl Park It's so hard to resist wet concrete. - IMG 2146
Pip Location: This is Pip. He's a marble painted like a hippo. He's been riding around on the dashboard for several months now (since we adopted him at the Pecan St Festival), so it was only natural that he make the cross-country trip with us. We inflict all of our aggression and abusive tendencies on him since Buddy the kite died. He takes it like a champ. - STD 2306
Location: DC Hey, it's the Washington monument, obscured by a giant (terrorist) hedgehog. - IMG 2147
Roughing it Location: Technology makes road trips much easier. In addition to hosting all our pictures and allowing us to check email every time we see a phone jack, Bryan's laptop provides us with endless hours of music, books on tape, and a program to teach Leslie how to type in Dvorak (constant self-improvement, yes). That wad of grass in the cup-holder is Killer Jr, the plant we're bringing to George. Sadly, it's now far closer to dead.
