Thursday: the day of far fewer pictures. Leslie and Bryan try to hit all the neighborhoods they haven't seen, stopping every 10-15 blocks for tea and warmth. Grand Central Station, down 5th avenue (past library), to Union Square. Then, subway to Chinatown, walk north through Little Italy, shop, drink tea, begin to get snowed on in Soho. Footsore, cold, and hungry, they actually GO INSIDE the crepes restaurant in Greenwich Village (this may be of interest only to Clare). They stay there for almost two hours, warm and full of crepe. - IMG 5045
After failing to get rush tickets to Avenue Q, they return to McSorley's to be abused by an Irish waiter. They note with amusement that "the cheese plate" is some slices of cheddar, raw onion, and a sleeve of saltines. Then they meet George for $1 stand-up (worth every penny) at the Telephone Bar in the East Village. Then George and Bryan head home while Leslie meets Danny. Here he is in his workplace. He's the volunteer coordinator at a nonprofit bookstore/cafe in Soho that raises money for homeless AIDS victims. - IMG 5048
L&D head back to Brooklyn for a benefit party. "What does this party benefit?" it occurs to Leslie to ask about halfway through the evening. "Someone's sexual reassignment surgery." As it turns out. Awesome. - IMG 5049
After dancing among the lesbians like absolute freaks for an hour or so, Leslie and Danny make the somewhat questionable decision to walk home in the snow. - IMG 5050
