The coolest of the pillars were the ones that seemed to be composed of armies of mushrooms from floor to ceiling. - IMG 2914
The roof of the first large room. The flash does a poor job of lighting it up, but that is some testament to the shear size of the place. Tourist Mecca, perhaps, but worth a stop. - IMG 2913
From just within the cave entrance. - IMG 2912
We chose the "natural" entrance, and were warned that it would be quite challenging. The naturaly entrance consisted of asphalt-paved, gently-inclined trail all the way through the cave. With lights. But hey, it was pretty and hassle-free. I won't complain. - IMG 2911
This is the view from the parking lot of Carlsbad Caverns. Not bad. - PICT0117
For some reason (I'm guessing beer), the girl we got to take this on our beer garden tour thought we would rather have just a picture of us than a picture of us AND the liter of beer in a giant barrel of a glass in front of us. (sigh) There is one exciting feature of this shot: my purse strap sunburn. - PICT0116

I'm sure this statue signifies something deep about risk-taking or something, but to me he looked disturbingly like a memorial to suicide jumpers. - PICT0112

Leslie and Sarah inside the museum, by a big boat. Taken by a woman who didn't know how to hold the camera still. - PICT0107
Me in front of the science and industry museum and some river we never quite caught the name of. Notice the garish yellow visor, bought in a moment of delerium to keep the sun off my pale little face. - PICT0106
All these big grey buildings in northern Europe had beautiful red flowers in the windows, which I thought were just lovely. - PICT0105
Pole in the center of the market: another example of why I don't like the German aesthetic. - PICT0104
Outdoor market we stumbled upon. - PICT0103

Inside the pretty German building. Sarah looks out the window by some stained glass. - PICT0098
A pretty German building of some sort, that is now being used mostly as a conference center. We wandered around inside and considered crashing some talks on personal organization. - PICT0097
Or a catfish. Catfish are cool. - PICT0096
It's 8 a.m. in Munich--what would you do? Probably take a picture with a boar statue, too. - tower 2 JPG

After another fried dough ball ("iri") in Little Italy for breakfast, Bryan and Leslie use their last morning to explore the lovely neighborhood of Hillcrest (here obscured by a bus). - Bryan asleep
