The Big Roll-over Location: Smoky Mountains Natl Park From 19,999... - IMG 2266
Location: Smoky Mountains Natl Park To 20,000. The little Jetta is growing up. - IMG 2271
Main Campus Location: Duke University An obligatory reference shot of the quad at Duke (a nice school, I'm sure, but why are all the kids so dressed up?). - IMG 2272
PP building Location: Duke University The Jetta parks illegally (briefly) in front of the Terry Sanford Institute of Public Policy, in Duke's West Campus. Leslie was visiting the school in her ongoing quest to plan the next 10 years of her life. While the programs were great, the atmosphere of Duke and the lack of any sort of nearby city were strikes against the grad school. The verdict: only if they offer her vast quantities of cash (what are the odds?). - IMG 2274
Law School Location: Duke University Across the street from the PP school is the law school, which felt far more institutional than the friendly Terry S Institute. - IMG 2275
PP School, Interior Location: Duke University A reference shot, looking up from the entrance. - IMG 2276
PP School, Interior Location: Duke University Down the hall, a reminder to myself of the well-maintained bulletin boards (hey, the details count). - IMG 2279
Nap-time Location: North Carolina/Virginia Bryan takes full advantage of his respite from driving as we head out of the Research Triangle after an unimpressive foray into downtown Durham. It's a cute but unfortunately abandoned center. - IMG 2280
The Road Location: Virginia Trees. Lots of trees. That's pretty much it. - IMG 2281
The Ocean Location: Virginia Our first look at the Atlantic--weren't we just in the woods? - IMG 2282
SPF 40, Baby Location: Virginia Bryan slathers himself before we go romping for hours in the waves (no pictures of that, sadly). But it was great fun. - IMG 2283
Still slathering Location: Virginia Again, with a better background, Bryan screens himself. - IMG 2284
The KOA Location: Virginia Our happy home, for one night, the KOA was about 1/5 the cost of a hotel room. Plus, it gave us the opportunity to sleep in Jeff's tent once again amid the RVs. Good times. - IMG 2287
Featureless Ocean Shot Location: Maryland What you don't see is that we actually took eight of these pictures (appreciate that we only posted one). - IMG 2288
Location: Maryland Okay, two. But this one has Bryan in the foreground, in case you forgot what he looked like. - IMG 2290
Chesapeake Bay Tunnel Location: Maryland Since we paid $10 to use this bridge/tunnel feature, we had to get our money's worth in pictures. - IMG 2291
Location: Maryland - IMG 2293
Location: Maryland Okay, three...but this one has...a mile marker... - IMG 2296
State #6 Location: Maryland Welcome to Maryland. - IMG 2299
National Cryptologic Museum Location: Maryland Our first stop in Maryland was the National Cryptologic Museum. Bryan would like you to know that he encrypted something on a real Enigma machine, which was terribly exciting. - IMG 2300
Location: Maryland Bryan with said machine. - IMG 2301
Propaganda. Location: Maryland Loose lips sink ships. You know who you are. - STA 2303
DC Location: Maryland We had a few hours to kill between the closing of the Cryptologic Museum and meeting George for yoga, so we spontaneously decided to do a dive-bomb tour of DC. Hence, a series of random buildings photographed through car windows. This may or may not be the National Archives. - STB 2304
Location: Maryland Hey! It's a...bank! No, a courthouse! No, a post office! - STC 2305
Location: Maryland They also convey the desperate speed of our tour. - STD 2306
Location: DC Hey, it's the Washington monument, obscured by a giant (terrorist) hedgehog. - STC 2309
Location: Maryland Is that the White House way off in the distance? Maybe. - STD 2310
Location: Maryland Another very important building. - STA 2307
Location: Maryland I...just don't know. It appears to be trees. Trees in our nation's capitol. - STB 2308
Location: Maryland And, it's more trees! (I'm mostly just leaving these up because they amuse me.)
