Home / Travel / Yosemite in October 83
21 October 2005 Leslie and Bryan make their first trip to Yosemite since living in California, just late enough in the season to see beautiful fall leaves and dodge tourist crowds in the valley.
- pip is our copilot
Remember Pip? Everyone's favorite battered marble-turned-one-legged-hippo? We dug him out of the ashtray of L's car to head our latest expedition.
- House of Beef
120--our route to Yosemite--wound its way through several small towns. B, fiending for meat, snapped this shot.
On our way to appreciate nature's beauty, we view the commercial side of national parks (presumably from Sierra National Forest: "land of many uses" according to its signs.)

Leslie had a thing for fall leaves. Bryan for big rocks.

Leslie takes frantic shots out the car window, trying desperately to capture the fall magic whizzing by.
On the march! L&B start their hike up to Vernal Falls.
Expect many more pictures of yellow leaves.

Our long views were somewhat obscured by smoke from a local forest fire. So Bryan takes a dozen shots trying to capture the way the sunlight was streaming through the smoke at the top of various cliffs.
Yes, the dual obsessions of yellow leaves and big smoky rocks dominate the next 60 or so pics...
