Did I mention Grand? In spanish grande means big. Aren't the similarities between the languages fascinating? - IMG 2968
There in the middle you can see a windy trail that we took down to the floor of the canyon, to get a better sense of the size of the place. Oh, wait. No. We didn't go down there because it was really fucking hot. That's right. - IMG 2949
It's really these things that remind my that I'm part of a world community, part of a "global village," if you will. - IMG 2967
Again. Flashbacks to day 1. - IMG 2972
Obligatory sunset shot. Careful viewers will notice that the sun has been meticulously removed with Photoshop. You can't trust anyone these days. - IMG 3006
Pictures just can't do this place justice. Think thousands and thousands of feet. Hugeness. - IMG 2950
Who are these people and why are they in half the pictures? - IMG 2966
It's cool because there's a tree. - IMG 3005
The "Great Arch of Zion." It's probably about 500 feet tall and 1500 across. Really amazing. This is the first thing you see after leaving a tunnel that takes you into the canyon proper, on the west side. I'd have to say that hands-down, Zion was the most amazing place we saw during the trip. - STA 2977
Careful viewers will notice that the moon has been meticulously added with Photoshop. You can't trust anyone these days. - IMG 2969
Ug with stick tend fire. Woman prepare meet. - IMG 2971

A ridge with a LAKE! It was odd to see a bunch of boats being towed around the desert; we were confounded until we saw the majestic, day-glo lake Powell. - IMG 2948
I mean, you've got two words, and they are from *totally different languages* but they sound similar, and they have similar meanings! WOW! - IMG 3008

At each gas station, we launched a preemptive strike against bug-gut encrustation on the front of the vehicle. It may be many months before leslie has time to give a shit about how clean her car is, and by then the remains may have fossilized. - IMG 2946
Look! A canyon! It's grand! - IMG 3009
Time for some hiking! - IMG 3010
On the bank of a stream, in the shadow of more huge, shear cliffs. Note the size of the trees on top to get an idea of the height. - IMG 2929
A whole city of the spikes. - IMG 3003
Things started to get cool as soon as we got on SR-9 on the east side of Zion. - IMG 2934
Here is the token Roswell shot. We were kind of hoping for a campy billboard or a UFO, but we were also hungry for lunch, so the most we did was slow down for this pic. - IMG 2933

These were the "Titans," about 20 meters tall each. Very cool. - IMG 2991
Think hard about what the bug splattered on the windshield means for all of us. - IMG 2943
Ahem. - IMG 2935
Note the eyes. - IMG 2932
More flowstone - IMG 3011
The adventurer finally finds a hat. - IMG 2936
Leslie will need to explain why this one was taken.
