I know what you're thinking. Driving at 75mph and taking pictures of your odometer are mutually exclusive activities. But it was a *really* long drive, and maybe after 8 hours I was getting overconfident. - IMG 3064
At about 5:45, I'm on the road about to cross the Dunbar bridge over the bay. - IMG 3067

Can it fit? Leslie had her doubts, but she fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The first is never get involved in a land war in Asia. The second, and only slightly less well-known, is this: never underestimate the power of the hatch. - IMG 3078
Another pretty gothic building that I don't know the name of. This one makes up the south side of the main quad. The trees and architecture are gorgeous. I almost feel like I'm cheating on UT for loving it so much, but the spaces are just so much more open (you're not always crammed between two five story buildings). - IMG 3074
The Commodore-Duchess apartment building. It's literally right across the street from UW proper. UT folks, imagine living at 26th and Wichita. The location is killer, all the bills are paid, but it is a little bit small. I'm sure I'll get used to it. - Anthony

Just as I got into the Seattle area, it started to rain on me... It was as though Seattle had prepared a special welcome just for me. - IMG 3075
Here are some random shots I took while wandering around campus. This is on the main pavilion; the foreground is occupied by a statue of UW's namesake. - IMG 3077

Another of the big plaza. The neat-o gothic building on the left is one of the many gigantic libraries here on campus. - IMG 3079
Another shot of the main quad, from the inside. - IMG 3081
South of the central plaza is the beautiful Drumheller fountain. - IMG 2801
Pillows. This is the wonderful green chair that Leslie and I got from a church garage sale soon after we met. I was sure that there was no way that we were going to be able to fit it in the box, but George came along to help (the 2,387th friend he helped move that week) and figured out how we could stuff it all in there. - IMG 0144
After only about 30 minutes of waiting in traffic we arrive. - The living room

Hannah, another bound for the Bay Area, sitting on my bed. Note the familiar sarong on the wall. That thing has 1001 uses. - IMG 0146
Our final haul: 7 chairs, an end table, and a bookcase. - IMG 2814

Here's Sieg Hall (har, har, i know), the old and venerable if butt-ugly CS building. - Esmeralda and Janet

Le, one of the members of my 12-person CMA group (don't even try keeping all the groups straight). She's eating lunch during one of our "synthesis sessions" that take place when teaching ends every day. - IMG 2815
The box, nearly full. George himself did not eventually end up inside (but we could have fit him). - IMG 3083
Here's the Allen Center, the brand-new CS building that all of the department is moving into in a month.
